I think new turnkey 550's from Beck, Vintage or Thunder Ranch were pushing $30,000 a couple of years ago - and you could easily get way over that with a non-basic motor or all the spendy authentic retro details.
Power-to-weight in one of those things is a real attention-getter with a tweaked 4-banger - and some people are building them with Subaru motors and modern brakes and suspension geometry too.
Still got absolutely no crash protection and a body shape that tends to fly over 125 MPH though...
Sure would be a fun toy. I love the quote from one of the original Beck road tests, which I think went something like "it's so tail-happy you'll get it wagging in the parking lot, but it always goes where the heavy wheel is pointing"..
