Any chance #2 was "Max Headroom?" It had the same thing...

Problem was that the sent adverts to the viewer audience so fast that they could not see them but their minds could, so they could bombard them trying to sell things.

They were called "blipverts" and eventually overloaded some people, killing them...

Edit, it was a British movie that was then turned into a one season run program here in the states, as well as a Coke commercial.
