kwm: I really did not give it much thought. I read the L.A. times article a week ago. L.A.P.D. still carry batons and they can use those to beat people. Flashlights can't be over 10" or 12 oz. as it is.
As far as being a tax payer, I think it is too late. They are already in the testing phase and the top brass really like what they see. Although at $200.- a pop, they are a bit pricey.
P.S. The article also states that we are the testing ground for a lot of devices that eventually make it into other police forces as well.
