Honda doesn't make their own automatics anymore...they started phasing out their own automatics starting in 2001 for ones from Borg Warner or ZF like most other makers. Too bad...real Honda automatics are extremely durable.

They use sliding gears (like a manual tranny) rather than the planetary gears in other automatics. I've always like the feel of Honda automatics as they shift very crisply and don't feel like your power is going through some slushbox.
