Nifong should be disbarred. Unfortunately, prosecutors have immunity from criminal prosecution. So despite the fact that he violated state law by withholding evidence from the defense, he will not be prosecuted.
Put simply, Nifong was obstructing justice by suppressing exculpatory evidence. I see little difference between falsely propping up someone's prosecution and lying to protect the guilty. Yet, Nifong has immunity as the D.A.? Talk about a warped playing field!
To make matters worse, Nifong undertook such actions for his own political and personal gain. He, and possibly the false accuser, are the only ones that should be in jail.
