Yeah there's the problem.

I have a '55 190SL. 7th car off the production line. As far as we know it's the oldest one around. Numbers 1-6 are either gone. Was the display car at the '56 NY Auto Show. 1st 190SL sold to the public and the 1st car sold as a coupe. 1st car to win Best In Class at Hershey it's rookie showing. My family is the second owner. My father bought it from the original owner in '64. Car is 100% original.

While 190's don't command the price of Hughes car the documented pedigree of this car puts it in a different class. We have had numerous 6 figure offers over the years.

But what do you do? Sell it? Fine so you get some cash but if you spend the cash you've got nothing.

To me the car has no monetary value. It's sentimental. You keep them and enjoy them and hopefully pass them along to your kids.

Nice to have something that no one else can.
