In the last century two major governments outlawed religion . A third government took a very dim view toward religion and operated under a doctrine of survival of the fittest.These governments were the most brutal the world has ever known!

Since WWII we have tried to make the world more interdependent and we in the US have abandoned isolationism but I'm not sure this is working .

World or local peace are going to be very hard to come by.I hate to say this but it seems that nuclear weapons deter countries that have them from going to war with each other and we know that crime has gone down in areas that liberalize gun ownership . But we always have that worry of a nut leader with a nuc or local nut with a gun .

Now I would be all for banning guns and nucs if we could keep them off the black market . But I've come full circle and conclude . No answer .
