Why on earth would you move to FL? I lived there for 16 years and cashed out right on top of the real estate bubble late last year. There are numerous tails of woe from sellers who've had their homes on the market for over a year. I sincerely believe the home market in FL hasn't bottomed yet.
Be sure you check ALL of the expenses involved in homeownership in FL. MAJOR sticker shock for taxes and especially INSURANCE. You may be looking at 20-70 % increases each and every year from now on.
