No, I wouldn't consider it a negative for a track car, where matching numbers are fairly unimportant, due to the usual extensive modifications for track duty. For a concours car, it might be a different story, and your case may actually be more valuable to someone who wants to maintain matching numbers on an '81-83 car, as I believe the factory supplied the replacement cases blank so that they could be stamped with the original serial number, if desired.
