Garage
I don't know if Sir Mixalot has it quite right, but thanks.

Superman is on the right track. I have been in a similar situation, although I didn't have to endure 23 years of the turbulent marriage. Looking back though I can see that the relationship I was in was very one sided - and it wasn't my side. During the past two years I have had a very good friend that has helped me cope with everything along the way and I have helped her with some of her problems too. We are now getting on as rather more than friends, but I can tell you that she is STILL my best friend. I can tell her anything, or we can say nothing to each other. She can watch the food network while I browse Pelican. I will fix her car and wash and wax it before doing mine, but she doesn't complain if I spend all evening in the garage either. We have a lot in common, but we are both different. Basically the whole situation is give and take, we appreciate each other for who the other person is and don't try to make them someone that you want them to be.

Does that make any sense at all?
