Love isn't something you fall into...it is something that you choose to do and work at.
Too many people who "fall in" love, "fall out" of love too. I think what most people consider falling in love is really just infatuation, which never lasts. Hence why so many marriages fail today. People get married because of infatuation and then when that wears off, they just figure "Oh, guess I fell out of love...time to move on." Not saying that is true of all marriages of course.
My wife actually got frustrated with me while we were engaged because she would ask me exactly when I fell in love with her and I would never have an answer. I would say it was more of a process, a decision. That didn't jibe with her idea of love. We ended up at the same place, though. After 3 years of dating and almost 9 years of marriage we both have made a conscious decision to work on our relationship and our love every day. Love takes work, infatuation just sort of washes over you.
