The festivities are centered around the river side park in Louisville Ky. There are a bunch of paddle-wheel boats that sell VIP tickets years in advance for front row seats. We actually have VIP tickets to Joe's Crab Shack right on the river, so the view is incredible. We usually spend a few hours walking through the park to check out the... um.... sights. It is not uncommon to see drunk college girls flashing the live bands that play off and on throughout the day.
The air show never disappoints! With historic Mustangs, new war birds, biplanes, you name it they are usually there, and do LOW fly-bys over the river.
The fireworks are launched from the west bridge and 2 huge barges that are parked in the middle of the river. The Finale is an extensive barrage of silver salutes that actually makes your chest rattle, and makes it difficult to breathe from the shock waves.
