I wonder if the MIG-29 used a little Channel Wing effect in it's STOL mode?
The jet engine would draw a lot of air in and create negative pressure or lift at the front bottom half of the intake (internal), right?
If you have not seen this plane in action; The front part of the jet intakes closes off, and louvered vents in the top open up so that debris from makeshift run ways (or damaged runways) in war time does not get ingested into the engine.
