That's true, but he did get us out of a terrible recession/inflationary period and built the military back up from almost nothing.
I just finished a book called Buck Wild about how the Republicans today have completely lost the idea of fiscal conservatism. Reagan tried to get a lot the federal budget cut, but had little success against the Democratic Congress.
