I bought a Caphalon SS set at some generic store... they had the a few sets of expensive stuff at the same store and when I compared they looked and speced out with the same grade and thickness of SS and same quailty handle, lids, bottoms... and they were all made in China
If I hit the lotto I would upgrade to copper and enamel cast iron but until then this stuff works fine for me.
Make you a better cook? Maybe not but as tabby says it all about temp control, if you know what you are doing it will make being a good cook a lot easier.
I looked at a set of le creuset and they were made in China also.
