Seems like the newest models are the ones driven by "the pricks who have more money than sense". Once they become older/more affordable/deeper aftermarket parts supply, they are then cool for the rest of us.
I have owned a 924, 928, 914, and an SC, in that order, and just loved all of them for what they were. Not for a status symbol, as none of them were particularly new/perfect, but hey, if I can drive a car that cost $30k in '79 for $4k, it makes me feel special, too.
They are all cool, but I have thought every one of those models were for jerks at different points in my life.
And to think I used to absolutely covet a 944 in perfect primer (!) with huge rear tires at one point....ugh.
Man, I miss my Shark!
