If you have the a/c on and set to max cool with the doors open it should be on. If in doubt about the compressor running just open the lid and check to see the clutch is turning. You can feel the air from the condensor fan motor from under the front of the car-just put your hand under the condensor. If it's not running and the compressor is TURN IT OFF QUICKLY! You could damage the system due to very high head pressures as a result. Any more questions you have-I will post replies.
