I thought it was a bit hokey. In the scene where they dropped it you could clearly see that the engine & transmission were out.
At least with the toyota, there was a point: it kept working. With the 911, it was more of a "watch us destroy a 911", instead of, let's see what this car can take.
It's actually too bad they didn't put the 911 through realistic abuse, like they did with the Toyota truck.
I bet they could put an SC through some pretty amazing abuse and still have it running, although you can't beat a n/a diesel for simplicity. Only need 3 12V wires to get it running.
