I don't follow F1 but don't they run v10's ?
Isn't half of the flat 6 engine above the centerline of the crank?
what about the fuel injection, dist, airbox, fan, shroud, alternator aren't they above the crank? Is the oil tank above the crank?
What does all that stuff weigh?
I am not knocking the flat 6 just curious about the fact the V8 weight is about 50 more than the N/A flat-6 when equipped with aluminum heads and manifold and it weighs less than a 930 engine about the same amount.
If someone wanted to use an aluminum block you would loose another 100 lbs.
Why didn't Porsche put a flat 6 in the 924, 944, 928 pepper wagon, etc?
I am just having fun here. The flat 6 is a great engine but there are others too but maybe not just in 911s.
