We bought a 2003 A4 new. It was the only car we could find that met all the requirements of all-wheel drive, 4-cylinder turbo, 5-speed manual. Extremely satisfied with it. AWD great in the snow, turbo doesn't care that it's going over the passes, comfortable, and mileage runs about 32 on the highway. It's ok in the twisties, but who cares -- that's what the 911 is for and the Audi suspension is for the snow, not a/x.

Only gripe is that Audi electronics are good, but not as good as they could be. I'm a luddite about some of that stuff - there is too much gee-whiz in cars, imo, and you can't get away from it.

We bought it through Costco. Dealer cost plus 4%. No haggling.
