I've put over 160K miles on my '85. It has never failed California smog test (now at 178K) including a dyno test few weeks ago.
Maintenance the "old fashion way" ...you learn it...
Overall I have found the ignition/fuel/DME quite reliable and tolerant. Sure some injectors got clogged, a DME relay went bad once, O2 sensor was dead for probably 80K miles
, all with original cat. I even neglected things like plugs, valve adjust, and dist. cap and it still passed.
