How about one where I got a ticket....but not for the actual speed I was going?
A friend of mine and I both had 1984 Honda Interceptor 1000 bikes at the same time. We were going over Highway 17 into Scottsvalley from Los Gatos. Most of the way we were doing about 80mph. (speed limit is 50) On the last stretch I opened it up and was doing close to 150. (the road was empty in front of me) I take the exit at the bottom of the hill and head up to to my folks house. I waited at the house for like 5 minutes and there was no sign of my buddy. I head back down the hill to see where he might be. Across the road is my buddy and one pissed off CHP. I did the right thing and went over there. He immediately grabbed the keys out of my ignition and ordered me off the bike. I complied of course. The whole time, my buddy is telling the officer that a warning would go along way with him. I was kind of laughing to myself at that. He told my buddy that he had him clocked at 80mph. He asked me how fast I was going and why I didn't see him behind us for the last eight miles? I told him that the last time I looked at the speedo it was about 150mph. I also told him that when I am going that fast, I don't care what is behind me only what is coming up in front of me. He liked my answer better then my friends "a warning would go a long way with me." For your friend here, he is getting a ticket for 85+ in a 50 zone. For you....since you told me the truth, you are getting a ticket for 55 in a 50 zone. I couldn't believe my ears! I gladly excepted the ticket.
That was 23 years ago. I don't drive like that anymore.
