An atheist believes nothing on faith. An atheist is rational. Rationally, an atheist cannot prove, as you correctly state, that there is no god. Therefore an atheist cannot rationally conclude with absolute certinty that god does not exist. An atheist, generally, concludes on the basis of evidence that god existence is extremely improbable.
If you call that agnostism, then, yes many atheists are agnostic about god in the way that they, and likely you, are agnostic about unicorns.
