I feel the same way about "backdating", which is something you only read about in the UK Porsche mags, when they take an SC, a Carrera or even a 993 and "backdate" it with the fenders from an early 911.
The article read "if you like the looks of an early Porsche but want the comfort and reliability of a later model..." How screwed up is that?
Not too long ago, people would take the early Porsche and put newer body panels on it to make it look like a later model! This farce of a car was featured in a mag called "Purely Porsche", but they obviously have completely missed the point!!!!
I waited years and years (decades) before I could afford to buy my dream early Porsche 911, I didn't try to take some POS and make it look like one.
Replicators, backdaters, and Covinators - you are all a bunch of posers, and your lame attempts to recreate your dream cars actually detract and demean from the cars you so desire. Same goes for 550 replicas, Cobra replicas, etc.
