They're OK, same basic plot in each one however. Loner stumbles onto a problem involving and old g/f or a girl he knew when she was someone's little girl, now all grown up. Rescues the female from the bad guys. Drifts away from her now that the job is done, repeat in the next book.

If you want to read some very funny stuff, my wife turned me onto, try the Janet Evanovich novels, about a young female bounty hunter and her perspective on life and men, they're very funny. Not just for chicks.
