Since you're considering an A3 you might want to consider a new Volvo C30. I like the look a lot. Not for everyone but I like 'em. 218HP, about 235 FtLbs Torque and 0-60 in about 6.2....until someone comes up with a chip!

I'm sort of guessing the yield on a relatively mild chip could be 230-240HP and the 0-60 could drop to 5.5-5.7 0-60 times. That is stock 951 Turbo S territory. Plenty fast enough for me.
