I've had a few 915s in the two 911s I have owned. The first thing I did upon taking ownership was to have the transmissions rebuilt and to add new bushings everywhere. I can shift my 915s as fast as any ricer with no issues and downshift into first while moving. The 5th to 4th shift is made by bumping the lever out of 5th and allowing the spring to line it up with 3/4 then dropping it down to 4th. No issues, just learn the technique.

If your 915 doesn't shift well it needs attention. They weren't made that way.
