I hope I am, Joe. As you may be aware, I am a Christian. Catholic. I pray rosaries and make human sacrifices, just like you've heard about Catholics. And I read stuff about those themes. One of the books I have, by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, mentions that most of us are a couple of decisions per day away from sainthood. Think about that. Take a generally good man for example. He doesn't cheat people. He is loyal to his family. He respects God. His decisions seldom if ever are knowingly evil. For him, just a bit more effort and his day can be a pretty good, consistent, clear example of how we were told to live.
Ethics and integrity are like many other things. Habit. You get into the habit of making decisions that can withstand the strong light of public scrutiny, and you're there. I'm not saying I'm perfect or even really Good. But just think about it. If you're like most of us, you don't sleep so good when you've violated your principles. So....I'm not so sure that Joe Paterno's way of doing things is beyond what I should expect from myself......and others.
