Don't get stuck on the Sony media. Almost everything else takes SD cards these days. SD are up to 8 GB capacity and are dirt cheap. You can easily find 2 GB cards for $10.

Having said that I think you should go to the store and try them on. Ergonomics are just as important as specs and comfort is a personal thing.

A camera that takes standard/rechargeable AA is a big convenience factor.

Then there are the new hybrid camera/camcorders like the SANYO Xacti C6. Does video and 6 mp stills at the same time.
