Much less so than a local flea market. When I had a laptop stolen out of my car I searched on eBay for it for a few months after. It had a scratch on the screen which is easy to identify. It didn't show up there unfortunately, but if it did, I would have nailed the guy! If I were a criminal I'd be nervous about selling stolen stuff on eBay.
