Thats a good term On Ramp. Since the advent of widespread Credit Card use about 40 years ago Americans have increasingily become wage slaves. Once you get a job, buy a home or car you are part of the system and they have U. Your obligated, and the only real Freedom is to creat an income not derived from your labor and managing debt or not having any. However to manage money does require time and effort, so your really never completely free. Thats why Mother always said its a nice feeling to have a big bank account so you can tell em to shove it if U want to.
However what I am talking about is something new, the OFAC can virtually sever your relationship with a Bank or Brokerage House immediatily and without warning. This was done under the aegis of Homeland Security and the war on Terror.
This shows how deeply the Financial system was effected by 911 by the drastic nature of response. It also shows the amount of fear of the reprecussions our government has if another attack should take place.
While these changes are well meaning and meant to protect Americans and its Financial system the potential for futher abuse is laid.
If U asked where was this dreamed up, I would answer that it probably was NOT dreamed up one dark night by Dick Cheney, but rather as a Bureaucratic response which the President signed off on. The effect is very deleterious to the freedom of action American have. Now it will be increasingly difficult to move money without Big Brother knowing about it and being able to cut U off at will.
