I agree that the Northstar is greatly preferable, but the V6 is fairly potent. Our 240 HP V6 4Runner weighs about the same as the SRX, has a 4 speed auto, and does 0-60 in 7.7. I've never felt that it was really lacking. The SRX V6 has 260 HP, 5 speed auto, and does 0-60 in 7.2. Of course, more power is always better, especially if it's a V8.
