Father-in-law was BIG into drag racing early on. Bought a '66 A/C Cobra (new), sold it a year later for a factory racecar '67 427 Vette. They only made something like 10 factory race 'vettes that year, he had two. Sold them later for other cars.
You don't bring this up with him in casual conversation. He went to Bloomington Gold a few years ago and saw one of his old race vettes go down the auction block for high six figures. It was just as he had bought it, not even a repaint.
