After Katrina and the stop in the supply of gas to stations. The lines here in Florida were very long and it would take you 1-2 hours to get up to a pump for gas.
I called up VP Racing fuels and asked what was the lowest octane gas they had in stock. 100 octane was the asnwer of the girl on the phone. I never asked the price, I ordered two 55 gallon drums of it and a pump. It was delivered the next morning.
Now my 3 fleet trucks could get gas in the morning and get to work, I could not afford my crews, that bill out at $125 an hour to sit in line for 2 hours each waiting for gas. We laughed when we saw our competitors tucks sitting in line with crews in the.
Yes, the gas cost me a LOT of money and it paid for itself the first morning my 3 crews did 2 hours worth of work instead of waiting in line.
I also gas up at the nearest statio to me when I need gas, I do not drive around looking to save $0.05 a gallon on a fill up so I can save $1.
