I think the number of true 'enthusiasts' buying supercars is limited -- maybe 10%. Most are poseurs looking for a trophy, or to impress a potential trophy wife/girlfriend. If you go to most Ferrari events, that's pretty clear. The crashes in the article seem to bear that out, since their car control skills seem limited. Very different crowd at a POC event than Ferrari club
Regardless, I think overall public opinion is changing, and potential supercar buyers will be affected. If it's not 'cool,' 90% won't buy
