step 1: use a plastic putty knife to remove the mirror glass. Be careful because there might be a heating element behind it that can break along with the mirror itself.

step 2: use a nut drive to remove the power window mechanism. this may not be the case on a '79.

step 3: unscrew 3 or 4 Phillips screws to remove the mirror body from the arm. If it's power you will need to unplug a wiring harness as well.

step 4: Removing a small round plastic cover between the mirror arm and door body reveals an hex key that must be loosened (not removed... watch out parts fall into the door!) to remove the flag mirror arm from the door.

Step 5: cut the old seal to remove.

Step 6: slide the new seal over the arm and reassemble. you may need to cut a portion of the seal interior to accomplish this. If the mirror is not power then omit seal modifications and reassemble.
