No, how does that work?
I have the integral Tivo/DVR thingy by Panasonic that came with my directTV service. I signed up for an online forum (bunch of Tivo geeks) a long time ago but hardly ever go there. I know there are guys that totally geek out on these things and can re-program them, etc. but honestly I haven't seen the value of investing who-knows-how-many hours to learn how to do all that when I watch so little TV as it is. Mostly I just record F1, occasional ball games, BSG, etc. My wife has a couple shows she records and sometimes watches, but honestly it'd be nice just to have more capacity - especially given how cheap it is!
If I can pick up a TB worth of storage for under 250 bucks and spend a couple of hours figuring out how to wire it all up, it's well worth it. Worst case I decide it ain't worth the trouble to add them to the Tivo unit (if it's a big PITA and requires a lot of time-wasting) and I throw 'em in my PC. No big deal, IMO.
How do you use Tivo desktop? Is this something I should be downloading/looking into? Sounds interesting.
