When they bought the company I work for, they didn't fire anyone. They did offer a very enticing early retirement package that 99% of folks over 50 took. Then they gave us all raises and stopped having all the weekly regular meetings that were a waste of time. They also weren't averse to having conference calls so you wouldn't have to drive all over town to the few meetings they did have.
