I had a nice 10/22 a while back... sold it because I didn't shoot it much.

I found a used heavy barrel factory stock (coffee laminate), put an Adams & Bennett barrel on it (1" heavy stainless), a Volquartsen hammer (sweetened up the trigger), and a Simmons scope on it. It would produce dime size 10 shot groups at 50 yards with ammo it liked.

The 10/22 is very customizable... with most other .22 rifles, you're stuck with the way they come.
