I see other gun owners here so;
I purchased this rifle recently at an estate sale and cleaned it up.
Marked on bbl: J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. Chicopec Falls Mass USA. *Crack Shot*
It’s a .22 Cal Long rifle. Barrel measures 20” in length. Walnut stock and forearm, steel butt plate, brass bead front sight, V block rear sight, falling block receiver. S/N A 1529. Total length approx. 34 ˝” .
I have refurbished old guns in the past and most have patent dates or state: Pat Pend. This one reads: Pat App’d. For.
I cannot find this exact gun in any of my books. Can someone date this for me? I feel it must be a very early model because of the Patent “APPLIED FOR” for stamping. Thanks for any help.
