Merry Christmas You're Fired - Update
For those of you that read my original thread on getting fired 3 weeks before last Christmas I thought I would give you a follow up.
While I worked my part time job I kept my name out there and interviewed for every job available. Unfortunately no one wanted a 51 year old attorney with 17 years of experience. So I kept the part time job and kept looking and getting rejected. Quite the humiliation at my age. Never been turned down for a job before. Now I was getting rejections on a semi-weekly basis.
Turned 52 back on June 18 still working a part time job that I was way over qualified for. Still doing projects on the house. My birthday was definitely not one of my better ones.
Then this week, out of the blue, I get a call from the Governor's Office. Could I come in for a meeting? So I go in and they tell me they have heard good things about my legal work. Would I like to take over the Office of the General Counsel for the Missouri Dept. of Agriculture? They really could use a good attorney there. And oh, by the way, the salary is about twice what I was making as a prosecutor. I start July 16. I still keep pinching myself to see if I am dreaming.
