Failing to pass a decent immigration bill is a bad thing for everyone except the illegal aliens. We lose.
It's really quite simple:
Make it illegal to employ an illegal alien. Say a $100,000 fine per offense, maybe even $100,000 per day

. Then actually enforce that law.
Create a new agency to do the enforcement. Use the money from the fines to pay for the enforcement, just like with OSHA and the AQMD. The agency will have motivation to catch the offenders because that is where their paycheck will come from. The more they catch, the bigger their budget.
If we do that there will be no need to build a fence. There will be no need to patrol the borders. No need for the national guard to play policeman.
No jobs, no money, the illegal aliens go somewhere else.
But noooooooo, we can't do that. The republican politicians don't want to piss off business owners.
The democrat politicians don't want to piss of the latino voters.
Stalemate.
See, I don't give a ratsass about pissing off the business owners who employ illegal aliens and I certainly don't give a ratsass about pissing off the latino vote, that's why I wouldn't make a good politician (good politician is an oxymoron with the emphasis on the last two syllables).
