If the car is going to be used as a track car, I wouldnt suggest spacers, if it is a car for the street spacers will be fine, if you just purchased the wheels and specified what car they are going on this is tireracks problem, call them and see if they have the proper fitament for your specific vehicle
POST 89 911's generally run 52-55mm Offsets
78-89 911's run an early offset usually low 20'smm offsets
To fit the 52-55mm offset on an early car Spacers are necessary, The ones I had installed on my car before the BBS's are 55mm offsets and I had the H&R spacers, hub centric with 1in up front and 1.5in in the rear with no rubbing. They basically extend the hub to accept late model wheels, they are spacers but have thier own studs, so longer studs are not needed to mount the late model wheels.
