Planning a great family getway to Australia
Greetings to our fellow Pelicaneers in Australia!
The kids and wife would like to do a family vacation to Australia. I am reading up on it on the internet, but wanted to get it from people I would tend to trust... My kids (all 6) are into anything that has to do with outdoors. We also have a reptile collection in the house. They are definitely wanting to do the Outback, but would also like to see other areas. I am trying to plan the right time of year and also figure out if I would need 2 or 3 weeks to see what needed to be seen. 3 weeks is about the longest I can take off at a time, so that is the limit. I am looking for recommendations on what to see, etc. Also, which airport would be better to fly into? Are there any recommendations on hotels in different areas? Is it fairly easy to rent something like a Suburban (something to haul 8 persons)? We usually prefer to do our own thing and would like to avoid using some sort of tour service, unless enough people think that would be better in this case.
Finally, if I could sneak in a Porsche event, what one would be the one to see?
Thanks for any tips or info.
Shane
