With the product liability exposure I'm surprised that someone in the business of manufacturing and/or selling aftermarket wheels doesn't protect themselves by complying with the latest industry standard applicable to their product.
SAE J2530 Aftermarket Wheels-Passenger Cars and Light Truck - Performance Requirements and Test Procedures was published in March 2004.
