I have the DVD of the show they did on Porsche. There is a whole team of people who work on these shows, doing research and trackingdown cars and owners. They also film all over the place depending upon where the cars are located mainly and they specifically mention somewhere on the 'Making of' section about filming on a road somewhere in California that would resemble a road on the Targa Florio.
