2003 996 Cab, I believe the Boxster speaker system is similar if this wides the people who can assist in this venture.

I am attempting to upgrade the sound system and replace the OEM speakers(dash, doors, and back seat) with something that fits in the factory spots. It appears that Porsche is attempting to snuff the after market segment with their proprietary speaker and mounting bracket.

I do not want to modify the vehicle to make a speaker fit at this time.

I'm not worried about head units, amps and subs at this point. I just wish to replace/upgrade the speakers.

If you have upgraded your speakers, what have you used?

As a side note the dash/back seat speakers are a two-way speakers. The speaker is a 4.5 inch paper midrange with a 1 inch tweeter mounted side by side in Porsche's propriety teardrop bracket. The door speaker size is unknown by me at this time.
