3. AT & T/CINGULAR is fine in Chicago. There were ratings of coverage in different cities by Consumer Reports a few years ago. Best carrier depends on your city.

5. Just got back from London. iPhone worked fine and was a lifesaver with google maps, etc. Took a chance without a laptop and it worked out fine.

7. I have a 2nd Gen iPod with 16.5 of 20GB filled, plus a 1GB 1st Gen Shuffle. Over the years I've gradually used the iPod for home/car and the Shuffle for exercise/commuter train. The 8GB on the phone is OK so far for a shuffle of music and a couple of TV shows/movies and some 35 photos. More would be better, but it is do-able.
