The government deliberately makes the security procedure so expensive and cumbersome so that it makes people think they are doing something. Anyone with an ounce of sense and a bit of experience would know that the best way to enhance flying security is the cheapest. 1) increase intelligence sharing 2) develop and follow proven profiles, they do it for drugs, why can't they do it for terroists 3) secure cockpit doors, and 4) armed air marshals. Cost to the public - minimal. Inconvenience factor - nill. Increase in effective protection against hijacking - 100%
