Putting the Volvo Back Together Again...

Some of you helped out when I couldn't get the tailshaft flange off my Volvo's tranny rear housing (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=356220&highlight=volvo)

Well, I am in the process of putting it back together again. The flange that is "supposed to slide right on and off" is not going back on the shaft very easily; not a surprise, since I needed a 3-arm puller to get it off in the first place. I cleaned out the spindles, used grease, and it still only will budge a millimeter every 10 mins or so - using a rubber mallett.

Any other suggestions on how to get the damn thing on faster? Are there any mechanical presses I could get that are as cheap and easy to use as the 3-arm puller?
